K2 bosses release statement after shock closure of gym

K2 bosses release a statement after shock closure of gym but several businesses have already expressed an interest to move into the K2 space created by the sudden closure of Rise gym, say, bosses.

The gym, which in February became one of the first to open in the £6m Kingston House renovation, announced it would close on August 9, citing “day to day pressure making it impossible to continue.”

The K2’s community director said they were “disappointed” to see Rise closed its doors, but said they had already been approached by several businesses interested in replacing it.

Brian Freestone said: “We are disappointed to see the closure of Rise, as we would be for any of the ventures at K2, and wish them all the best for the future.

“Demand for space at K2 has been high from the very start

“Following the announcement from Rise, we have been approached by a number of businesses keen to move here and we’re currently in discussion with several parties.”

Rise said in a statement released to its customers the decision to shut had been “a tough one”.

The 3,000sq ft space included powerlifting and weightlifting areas, as well as cardio equipment and personal training spaces. It also featured a rooftop outdoor workout area.

It said: “It comes with great regret that I have to make this announcement, and a decision that has been a tough one to make but due to a number of circumstances – some of which are beyond my control – the gym will sadly be closing.

“I’m sure some of you will have witnessed the day-to-day pressure that the business has been subjected to, which has made it impossible for us to continue to operate. This does not make the decision any easier.
